"Ask anyone who cares about food and fine dining to list the best restaurants in Western New York: Oliver's will almost always rate a mention in the top three or so. We have certain expectations from our institutions—but that is not the same thing as saying that our institutions should be boring. Oliver's is not boring; it is consistently excellent, a restaurant that prepares the best ingredients with skill and imagination, and presents them with panache and wit in surroundings that are comfortable and elegant. A meal at Oliver's is a grown-up treat, an opportunity to dress up and enjoy something special, even when there is no special occasion. It is a comfortable space, attractive and lit in a flattering palette, with what might be the most attractive bar in the city."

"This was always one of my favorite restaurants, but I had not been here in a long time. It was as good as ever, if not better."

"This past weekend, my partner and I had the pleasure of dining at Oliver's again, since our last visit a few years back. As usual, I found my dining experience there to be quite exquisite all around."

Oliver's Restaurant
"Oliver's is consistentaly rated one of Buffalo's Best. The decor is very arc deco, the clienetelle sophisticated and the food of excellent quality. There's a good group of regulars - mostly coupled up - that drapes the semi-circular bar. Ownership has been constant for the last 20 plus years. Spinach bread is a house specialty - well worth the caloric splurge!

Great Catering
By Paul B. | Insider Expert
"I have attended parties catered by Olivers Restaurant. The food is extremely good. The waiters and waitresses all seemed to work really hard to make sure the party went smoothly and were ready to help you get whatever it is you wanted. I'm sure it was really expensive, but if you have the money I think it is worth it.

World Class in Buffalo
"Buffalo take pride and note, Olivers is a world class restaurant. I am a Buffalo native who moved away due to military service. My lady friend and I recently came to visit. We have dined in Europe and across the US and we were impressed with overall excellence of Oliver's. The soft shell crab appetizer was perfect; the sirloin of lamb and the tuna entrees were truly to die for. We had a great experience and most memorable evening. "New to Buffalo within the past few years, we had heard the hype, that Oliver's was THE best restaurant in the area. It's safe to say there's some competition -- Lombardo's on Hertel Avenue and the legendary Salvatore's on Transit Road. But the service, the decor, and most importantly, the food, was impeccable and certainly worthy of the acclaim."

"The Butternut Flan with gorgonzola duck confit was out of this world, followed by two perfectly-cooked fish entrées at our table -- the cod and a fresh ahi special. Was the meal worth the $100 for two people? Probably not. But it was certainly enjoyable, and would have been an ideal setting for an intimate celebration."

Old School...
"A great restaurant from the Old School. I go more often to sit at the bar, order off the bar menu. Perhaps the best steak sandwich you'll ever eat. And the bartender knows how to make a good martini."

DOWNTOWN.
"Elegant sophistication defines both the cuisine and décor at this Buffalo mainstay. Since 1936, Oliver's has been a premier choice for the city's elite. Appetizers such as grilled sea scallops with arugula or Oestra caviar may be included on the seasonal menu and might be followed by lobster with dill-lemon sauce or tournedos of beef tenderloin with truffles, twice-baked potatoes, and shallot glaze. For dessert, the house specialty, baked Alaska served with chocolate and caramel sauces, is spectacular."

Upscale dining in a casual atmosphere
"Modern yet relaxed décor invites guests to dine amongst candles and fresh flowers. The menu changes seasonally, but restaurant-goers can expect creative Continental cuisine prepared with style, and served beside a selection of over 400 wines. Casual diners will appreciate the lower-priced lounge menu."

Elegant Food, Elegant Decor
"Some of the best in contemporary American cuisine is served here ..... including Olive Oil Poached Long Island Duck Breast, and Porcini Dusted Sea Bass. One of the oldest fine dining spots in Buffalo, this restaurant located north of Delaware Park is still a favorite for those looking for elegance and excellent food. There's a formal air to the place, perhaps due to the dress code. But the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. A good place for a special anniversary or to close that important deal."
